CLO #2

“enhance strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment”

I can confidently say that throughout this course I have fully enhanced and exercised strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self assessment through every single assignment. Before each major assignment I always read and took notes on the genre from the textbook, completed genre analysis on former student samples in order to understand the correct form of the assignment, written a first draft, edited and revised my draft, and then finalized it. Figure 1 shows the extensive editing history on my memo, which required a lot of revision because it was my first assignment. Personally, I really appreciate this course learning outcome because I have an issue where I don’t like writing multiple drafts at all. I prefer to simply edit my original draft until I’m satisfied with the outcome- but I feel that writing first drafts does help in the long run because it elongates the writing process, which allows you to look back after a period of time and see what mistakes you made, in contrast to just writing it all in one go. Drafts also give the opportunity for peer reviews, which always help to improve your writing.
